I've come very late to blogging and discovered in an experimental very private little blog how much I liked talking to myself, almost Shirley Valentine in style. I talk to myself a lot, probably because when I talk to people at work, I may as well be talking to myself.
There is no doubt in my mind - and those who know me will understand this well - that if I ruled the world it would all be different. Not THE WORLD, you understand, just my world.
This really will be inconsequential chatter with the occasional serious observation, or frustration edging its way out. People tell me I'm too grumpy to blog, believe me if you were surrounded by fools and idiots, you'd be grumpy too!! Others suggest I'm too authoritarian to blog. I refer you to my second paragraph - you may have a point.
I probably don't really have time, but I discovered it is quite therapeutic, so I'm going to make time. I may not blog every day but I will try and blog regularly. It's all very exciting unless you are one of my readers in which case you are probably already bored to death.
So, Osama then. Dead then. That's an end to that then. Er, no, actually, probably just a fresh start. Now if he had just stuck to trying to through over the corrupt regime in Saudi then he probably still would have ended up being killed by the US, but at least he may have been trying to do some good.
AV. Yawn. Dreadful campaign. decided I'm a NO voter, althoug really took exception to the NO Campaign leaflet. Yes, I believe Nick Clegg is a liar, has broken promises and is generally an arse, but why is that a reason for me to vote no?
SNP look like they are taking Scotland again. Wales more interesting. Spoke to Edwina Hart at the weekend at the May Day rally in Swansea, a small but perfectly formed event. Nice to meet up with some old friends, even, probably especially, the trots. Edwina will probably win her seat (my words, not hers) but it will be interesting to see where the votes go and who ends up in coalition with whom.
Work today. Discovered that even when I do a good thing, someone out there somewhere thinks I've sold out again. A tad frustrating but becoming the norm. Privacy film in the offices is causing a stir. For the record, I didn't want it, wasn't asked if I want it and didn't know we were getting it. However, its really not something to launch a revolution over so I shall just be an observer in this particular skirmish, methinks.
Told the organisers still don't like the red shed concept. However, the figures speak for themselves and there is no doubt in my mind that the doors it opens and the ability to actually speak to our members face to face in their workplace is worth a few dull hours. The trick is to visit them 2 or 3 times, making sure you know there are numbers due to attend on the follow up events. I've loved the ones I've done, even when I've only seen a couple of people. Glasgow probably the most successful, picked up a couple of new members there and then, spoke to loads of members, sorted some issues out and got a new rep.
Oh, for those of you who don't know me and I'm quite sure that those of you who do gave up reading ages ago, I'm a trade union official. Thought of calling the blog the ordinary life of an everyday trade union official, but its about more than that, really. It is the ordinary life of an everyday woman working in a man's world, of which more later, I promise x
What took you so long? Dare I suggest that nambypambypish.blogspot.com has demonstrated to you that any fool can write a blog?
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you're going to give blogging a go. I look forward to your words of wisdom!
Oh, and I think "the organisers still don't like the red shed concept" is a bit sweeping. Having said that, you probably have a better idea than me!
ReplyDeleteTruthfully I wis pure dead jealous, by the way. oh, and sweeping statements will be the order of the day - it's MY blog after all
ReplyDeleteI'm a NO for AV as well, just have to remember to vote as for the first time I have no postal vote! I enjoyed your Blog - that is before I actually read it :-P Only joking GGR!
ReplyDeleteGrace nice one. Welcome to blog-world. I voted for AV on the basis that I feel this is a more effective democracy, as it will be impossible for an MP to be elected on the basis of over 70% of his/her electorate not voting for them - which unfortunately is the case for some MPs. Safe seats will be a thing of the past and MPs will have to work for every vote.
